RESUMEN

Anion exchange membrane (AEM) fuel cells (AEMFCs) and water electrolyzers (AEMWEs) suffer from insufficient performance and durability compared with commercialized energy conversion systems. Great efforts have been devoted to designing high-quality AEMs and catalysts. However, the significance of the stability of the catalyst layer has been largely disregarded. Here, an in situ cross-linking strategy was developed to promote the interactions within the catalyst layer and the interactions between catalyst layer and AEM. The adhesion strength of the catalyst layer after cross-linking was improved 7 times compared with the uncross-linked catalyst layer due to the formation of covalent bonds between the catalyst layer and AEM. The AEMFC can be operated under 0.6 A cm-2 for 1000 h with a voltage decay rate of 20 µV h-1. The related AEMWE achieved an unprecedented current density of 15.17 A cm-2 at 2.0 V and was operated at 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 A cm-2 for 1000 h.

Objectives: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicidal behavior, including suicidal ideation (SI) and suicide attempts, are important predictors of suicide in adolescents. This study aimed to investigate the associations between NSSI, SI, NSSI+SI, mental health problems, and family factors in Korean adolescents in Jeju Island, with an emphasis on key findings. Methods: A total of 561 adolescents completed self-report questionnaires regarding demographics, NSSI, SI, suicidal behavior, perceived family functioning, and mental health problems, which were assessed using Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale for Children, Screen for Children Anxiety-Related Disorders (SCARED), and Youth Self-Report (YSR). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, chi-square test, post-hoc analyses, and multivariate logistic regression. Results: In this study, 22.3% of adolescents reported either NSSI or SI, with 5.5% reporting NSSI and 20.7% reporting SI. Combined (NSSI+SI) group showed a significantly higher SCARED score, anxiety/depression, thought problems, attention problem, and rule breaking on YSR than did the SI only group. Higher level of depression and anxiety were significantly associated with NSSI and SI. Female sex and perceived family dissatisfaction were significantly associated factors for SI, but not for NSSI in multivariate logistic regression. Conclusion: This study provides insights into the clinical characteristics and associated factors among adolescents with NSSI, SI, and NSSI+SI in Jeju Island. Identifying these results can inform the development of targeted prevention and intervention strategies to mitigate the negative consequences of these behaviors and contribute to a better understanding of the role of family in this context.

MOTIVATION: Protein-protein interaction sites (PPIS) are crucial for deciphering protein action mechanisms and related medical research, which is the key issue in protein action research. Recent studies have shown that graph neural networks have achieved outstanding performance in predicting PPIS. However, these studies often neglect the modeling of information at different scales in the graph and the symmetry of protein molecules within three-dimensional space. RESULTS: In response to this gap, this paper proposes the MEG-PPIS approach, a PPIS prediction method based on multi-scale graph information and E(n) equivariant graph neural network (EGNN). There are two channels in MEG-PPIS: the original graph and the subgraph obtained by graph pooling. The model can iteratively update the features of the original graph and subgraph through the weight-sharing EGNN. Subsequently, the max-pooling operation aggregates the updated features of the original graph and subgraph. Ultimately, the model feeds node features into the prediction layer to obtain prediction results. Comparative assessments against other methods on benchmark datasets reveal that MEG-PPIS achieves optimal performance across all evaluation metrics and gets the fastest runtime. Furthermore, specific case studies demonstrate that our method can predict more true positive and true negative sites than the current best method, proving that our model achieves better performance in the PPIS prediction task. BACKGROUND: Periodontitis is a chronic osteolytic inflammatory disease, where anti-inflammatory intervention is critical for restricting periodontal damage and regenerating alveolar bone. Ropinirole, a dopamine D2 receptor agonist, has previously shown therapeutic potential for periodontitis but the underlying mechanism is still unclear. METHODS: Human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) treated with LPS were considered to mimic periodontitis in vitro. The dosage of Ropinirole was selected through the cell viability of HGFs evaluation. The protective effects of Ropinirole on HGFs were evaluated by detecting cell viability, cell apoptosis, and pro-inflammatory factor levels. The molecular docking between NAT10 and Ropinirole was performed. The interaction relationship between NAT10 and KLF6 was verified by ac4C Acetylated RNA Immunoprecipitation followed by qPCR (acRIP-qPCR) and dual-luciferase reporter assay. RESULTS: Ropinirole alleviates LPS-induced damage of HGFs by promoting cell viability, inhibiting cell apoptosis and the levels of IL-1ß, IL-18, and TNF-α. Overexpression of NAT10 weakens the effects of Ropinirole on protecting HGFs. Meanwhile, NAT10-mediated ac4C RNA acetylation promotes KLF6 mRNA stability. Upregulation of KLF6 reversed the effects of NAT10 inhibition on HGFs. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, Ropinirole protected HGFs through inhibiting the NAT10 ac4C RNA acetylation to decrease the KLF6 mRNA stability from LPS injury. The discovery of this pharmacological and molecular mechanism of Ropinirole further strengthens its therapeutic potential for periodontitis.

Lipophagy in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a microautophagic process in which lipid droplets (LDs) are directly engulfed into the vacuole, despite the fact that multiple core ATG (autophagy related) genes related to general autophagy have been reported to be essential for this process for unknown reasons. In this study, we report new findings about the regulation of lipophagy by analyzing, under different culture conditions, both the engulfment of LDs into the vacuole and the degradation of LD surface proteins. We find that the degradation of LD surface proteins relies on autophagy and can occur independently of lipophagy. Furthermore, glucose restriction can trigger an ATG1-independent lipophagic process, depending on the glucose concentration in the mediums. In summary, we describe an ATG-independent lipophagic process in yeast, such that the overall level of lipophagy in cells is governed by a dynamic balance between the ATG-dependent and -independent lipophagic processes.

Leucine-rich repeat receptor kinases (LRR-RKs) play a pivotal role in diverse aspects of growth, development, and immunity in plants by sensing extracellular signals. Typically, LRR-RKs are activated through the ligand-induced interaction with a SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS RECEPTOR KINASE (SERK) coreceptor, triggering downstream signaling. ROOT MERISTEM GROWTH FACTOR1 (RGF1) INSENSITIVEs (RGIs) LRR-RLK receptors promote primary root meristem activity while inhibiting lateral root (LR) development in response to RGF peptide. In this study, we employed rapamycin-induced dimerization (RiD) and BAK1-INTERACTING RECEPTOR-LIKE KINASE3 (BIR3) chimera approaches to explore the gain-of-function of RGI1, RGI4, and RGI5. Rapamycin induced the association of cytosolic kinase domains (CKDs) of RGI1 and the BAK1 coreceptor, activating both mitogen-activated protein kinase 3 (MPK3) and MPK6. Rapamycin significantly inhibited LR formation in RiD-RGI1/RGI4/RGI5-BAK1 plants. Using transgenic Arabidopsis expressing RGI1CKD fused to the BIR3-LRR chimera under estradiol control, we observed a substantial reduction in LR density upon ß-estradiol treatment. Additionally, we identified a decrease in root gravitropism in BIR3 chimera plants. In contrast, RiD-RGI/BAK1 plants did not exhibit defects in root gravitropism, implying the importance of combinatorial interactions between RGIs and SERK coreceptors in the inhibition of root gravitropism. Constitutive activation of RGIs with BAK1 in RiD-RGI/BAK1 plants by rapamycin treatment resulted in the inhibition of primary root growth, resembling the inhibitory effects observed with high concentrations of phytohormones on primary root elongation. Our findings highlight that the interactions between CKDs of RGIs and BAK1, constitutively induced by rapamycin or BIR3 chimera, efficiently control LR development.

The function of transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV) cation channels governing B cell activation remains to be explored. We present evidence that TRPV2 is highly expressed in B cells and plays a crucial role in the formation of the B cell immunological synapse and B cell activation. Physiologically, TRPV2 expression level is positively correlated to influenza-specific antibody production and is low in newborns and seniors. Pathologically, a positive correlation is established between TRPV2 expression and the clinical manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in adult and child SLE patients. Correspondingly, mice with deficient TRPV2 in B cells display impaired antibody responses following immunization. Mechanistically, the pore and N-terminal domains of TRPV2 are crucial for gating cation permeation and executing mechanosensation in B cells upon antigen stimulation. These processes synergistically contribute to membrane potential depolarization and cytoskeleton remodeling within the B cell immunological synapse, fostering efficient B cell activation. Thus, TRPV2 is critical in augmenting B cell activation and function.

Monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1) exhibits essential roles in cellular metabolism and energy supply. Although MCT1 is highly expressed in activated B cells, it is not clear how MCT1-governed monocarboxylates transportation is functionally coupled to antibody production during the glucose metabolism. Here, we report that B cell-lineage deficiency of MCT1 significantly influences the class-switch recombination (CSR), rendering impaired IgG antibody responses in Mct1f/fMb1Cre mice after immunization. Metabolic flux reveals that glucose metabolism is significantly reprogrammed from glycolysis to oxidative phosphorylation in Mct1-deficient B cells upon activation. Consistently, activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID), is severely suppressed in Mct1-deficient B cells due to the decreased level of pyruvate metabolite. Mechanistically, MCT1 is required to maintain the optimal concentration of pyruvate to secure the sufficient acetylation of H3K27 for the elevated transcription of AID in activated B cells. Clinically, we found that MCT1 expression levels are significantly upregulated in systemic lupus erythematosus patients, and Mct1 deficiency can alleviate the symptoms of bm12-induced murine lupus model. Collectively, these results demonstrate that MCT1-mediated pyruvate metabolism is required for IgG antibody CSR through an epigenetic dependent AID transcription, revealing MCT1 as a potential target for vaccine development and SLE disease treatment.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: We aimed to define gender-specific, optimal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) cut-off values for the prediction of significant liver histological changes (SLHC) in Chinese patients with grey zone (GZ) chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and normal ALT. METHODS: In a retrospective study, we included 1101 consecutive patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT assigned to training or internal validation cohorts. We included an independent cohort of 842 patients for external validation. We performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, smoothed curve fitting, and threshold effect analyses to determine optimal ALT cut-off values. Area under the curve (AUC) values were calculated to assess their predictive performance. RESULTS: A proportion of 79.3% of patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT (≤40 U/L) had SLHC. ROC curve analysis initially identified optimal ALT cut-off values of 29 U/L (male) and 22 U/L (female). After smoothed curve fitting and threshold effect analyses, new optimal cut-off values were 27 U/L for males and 24 U/L for females. AUCs for these values were 0.836 (male) and 0.833 (female) in the internal validation cohort, and 0.849 (male) and 0.844 (female) in the external validation cohort. The accuracy and discriminative ability of the newly defined ALT cut-off values were greater than those of the current recommendations. CONCLUSION: This study established novel optimal ALT cut-off values for more precise prediction of SLHC among Chinese patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT levels. This may help identify individuals who will benefit from timely antiviral therapy.

Alkaline polymer electrolytes (APEs) are essential materials for alkaline energy conversion devices such as anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) and water electrolyzers (AEMWEs). Here, we report a series of branched poly(aryl-co-aryl piperidinium) with different branching agents (triptycene: highly-rigid, three-dimensional structure; triphenylbenzene: planar, two-dimensional structure) for high-performance APEs. Among them, triptycene branched APEs showed excellent hydroxide conductivity (193.5 mS cm-1 @80 °C), alkaline stability, mechanical properties, and dimensional stability due to the formation of branched network structures, and increased free volume. AEMFCs based on triptycene-branched APEs reached promising peak power densities of 2.503 and 1.705 W cm-2 at 75/100 % and 30/30 % (anode/cathode) relative humidity, respectively. In addition, the fuel cells can run stably at a current density of 0.6 A cm-2 for 500 h with a low voltage decay rate of 46 µV h-1 . Importantly, the related AEMWE achieved unprecedented current densities of 16 A cm-2 and 14.17 A cm-2 (@2 V, 80 °C, 1 M NaOH) using precious and non-precious metal catalysts, respectively. Moreover, the AEMWE can be stably operated under 1.5 A cm-2 at 60 °C for 2000 h. The excellent results suggest that the triptycene-branched APEs are promising candidates for future AEMFC and AEMWE applications.

The rational design of the current anion exchange polyelectrolytes (AEPs) is challenging to meet the requirements of both high performance and durability in anion exchange membrane water electrolyzers (AEMWEs). Herein, highly-rigid-twisted spirobisindane monomer is incorporated in poly(aryl-co-aryl piperidinium) backbone to construct continuous ionic channels and to maintain dimensional stability as promising materials for AEPs. The morphologies, physical, and electrochemical properties of the AEPs are investigated based on experimental data and molecular dynamics simulations. The present AEPs possess high free volumes, excellent dimensional stability, hydroxide conductivity (208.1 mS cm-1 at 80 °C), and mechanical properties. The AEMWE of the present AEPs achieves a new current density record of 13.39 and 10.7 A cm-2 at 80 °C by applying IrO2 and nonprecious anode catalyst, respectively, along with outstanding in situ durability under 1 A cm-2 for 1000 h with a low voltage decay rate of 53 µV h-1 . Moreover, the AEPs can be applied in fuel cells and reach a power density of 2.02 W cm-2 at 80 °C under fully humidified conditions, and 1.65 W cm-2 at 100 °C, 30% relative humidity. This study provides insights into the design of high-performance AEPs for energy conversion devices.

The effect of aerobic exercise at different intensities on Alzheimer's disease (AD) still remains unclear. We investigated the effect of aerobic exercise at different intensities on cognitive and motor functions and neurotrophic factor expression. Thirty-two AD-induced rats were randomly assigned to control (CG), low-intensity (Group I), medium-intensity (Group II), and high-intensity (Group III) exercise groups. Each group, except for the CG, performed aerobic exercise for 20 min a day five times a week. After performing aerobic exercise for 4 weeks, their cognitive and motor functions and neurotrophic factor expression patterns were analyzed and compared between the groups. All variables of cognitive and motor functions and neurotrophic factor expression were significantly improved in Groups I, II, and III compared to those in the CG (p < 0.05). Among the neurotrophic factors, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression was significantly improved in Group III compared to that in Groups I and II (p < 0.05). In the intra-group comparison of cognitive and motor functions, no significant difference was observed in CG, but the aerobic exercise groups showed improvements. Only Group III showed a significant improvement in the time it took to find eight food items accurately (p < 0.05). Aerobic exercise improved the cognitive and motor functions and neurotrophic factor expression patterns in the AD-induced rat model, with high-intensity aerobic exercise having greater effects on cognitive function and BDNF expression.

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common bacterial infections in febrile children and a common cause of hospitalization, especially in very young children. We examined the clinical characteristics and predictive factors of concomitant bacteremia in pediatric patients with febrile UTI aged ≤24 months. Methods: This retrospective multicenter study reviewed medical data from 2,141 patients from three centers from January 2000 to December 2019. Enrolled cases were classified into the bacteremic UTI and non-bacteremic UTI groups according to the presence of blood culture pathogens. Results: Among 2,141 patients with febrile UTI, 40 (1.9%) had concomitant bacteremia. All patients in the bacterial group were aged ≤6 months. Multivariate analysis revealed that younger age, lower blood lymphocyte counts and serum albumin levels, higher C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels, and BUN/serum albumin ratio were independent risk factors of concomitant bacteremia. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curves predicting bacteremia were 0.668 for CRP, 0.673 for lymphocytes, and 0.759 for the BUN/albumin ratio. Conclusion: The present study identified the BUN/albumin ratio and lower blood lymphocyte counts as novel predictive factors for bacteremia in young infants with febrile UTI in addition to the previously identified factors of younger age and higher CRP levels. Our findings could help to identify patients at high risk of bacteremia and benefit decision-making in the management of infants with febrile UTI.

This study aimed to investigate the changes of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), proinflammatory cytokine expression, hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg), and hepatitis B virus envelope antigen (HBeAg) expression as well as innate immune cell percentages in a mouse model of persistent hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection to better understand the innate immune response. Mouse models of persistent HBV infection, HBsAg expression, and HBeAg expression were developed using high-pressure tail-vein injection of recombinant adeno-associated viruses. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) were used to determine the serum proinflammatory cytokine levels. Immunohistochemistry and western blot assays were used to detect TLR4 expression. Flow cytometric analysis was used to assess the percentage of innate immune cells in the whole blood. Persistent HBV infection, HBsAg expression, and HBeAg expression each significantly decreased the expression of TLR4. Persistent HBV infection significantly increased the percentages of T cells and monocytes, whereas it decreased the percentage of natural killer (NK) cells. Persistent HBeAg expression also decreased the percentage of NK cells, whereas persistent HBsAg expression increased the percentage of NK cells. Both persistent HBsAg and HBeAg expression increased the percentage of monocytes. However, both persistent HBsAg and HBeAg expression decreased the percentage of T cells. HBV as well as HBsAg and HBeAg showed similar effects on the expression of TLR4 and proinflammatory cytokines as well as the percentage of monocytes. Persistent HBV infection increased the percentage of T cells and decreased the percentage of NK cells, whereas only persistent HBeAg expression contributed to a decreased percentage of NK cells.

Objectives: Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is often comorbid with other psychiatric disorders in childhood. This study aimed to investigate comorbid psychiatric symptoms and associated factors in elementary school children with symptoms of ODD. Methods: The participants consisted of 205 mother-offspring pairs. Psychiatric symptoms were measured using the Diagnostic Predictive Scales and Korean Child Behavior Checklist. Psychiatric comorbid symptoms were compared between children with ODD symptom and those without ODD symptom. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the odds ratio of psychiatric symptom on ODD. Results: ODD group had a significant association with internalizing and externalizing problem (p=0.001, p<0.001, respectively). ODD group were more comorbid with anxiety disorder, depressive disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and conduct disorder. Among psychiatric disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) (adjusted odds ratio [AOR]=18.620, p<0.001) and conduct disorder (AOR=9.529, p=0.014) were associated with ODD symptom. Conclusion: These findings suggest that children with ODD symptom had significantly higher rates of comorbid psychiatric symptoms. And GAD and conduct disorder are related to ODD symptom.

A proportion of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers with normal alanine transaminase (ALT) present with significant liver histological changes (SLHC). To construct a noninvasive nomogram model to identify SLHC in chronic HBV carriers with different upper limits of normal (ULNs) for ALT. The training cohort consisted of 732 chronic HBV carriers who were stratified into four sets according to different ULNs for ALT: chronic HBV carriers I, II, III, and IV. The external validation cohort comprised 277 chronic HBV carriers. Logistic regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analyses were applied to develop a nomogram model to predict SLHC. A nomogram model-HBGP (based on hepatitis B surface antigen, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, and platelet count) demonstrated good performance in diagnosing SLHC with area under the curve (AUCs) of 0.866 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.839-0.892) and 0.885 (95% CI: 0.845-0.925) in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. Furthermore, HBGP displayed high diagnostic values for SLHC with AUCs of 0.866 (95% CI: 0.839-0.892), 0.868 (95% CI: 0.838-0.898), 0.865 (95% CI: 0.828-0.901), and 0.853 (95% CI: 0.798-0.908) in chronic HBV carriers I, II, III, and IV, respectively. Additionally, HBGP showed greater ability in predicting SLHC compared with the existing predictors. HBGP has shown high predictive performance for SLHC, and thus may lead to an informed decision on the initiation of antiviral treatment.

RESUMEN

Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) are typically derived from the endogenous elements of necrosis cells and can trigger inflammatory responses by activating DAMPs-sensing receptors on immune cells. Failure to clear DAMPs may lead to persistent inflammation, thereby contributing to the pathogenesis of immunological diseases. This review focuses on a newly recognized class of DAMPs derived from lipid, glucose, nucleotide, and amino acid metabolic pathways, which are then termed as metabolite-derived DAMPs. This review summarizes the reported molecular mechanisms of these metabolite-derived DAMPs in exacerbating inflammation responses, which may attribute to the pathology of certain types of immunological diseases. Additionally, this review also highlights both direct and indirect clinical interventions that have been explored to mitigate the pathological effects of these DAMPs. By summarizing our current understanding of metabolite-derived DAMPs, this review aims to inspire future thoughts and endeavors on targeted medicinal interventions and the development of therapies for immunological diseases.

The rhodium(III)-catalyzed reaction of aniline derivatives that contain a pyrimidine-directing group with vinylsilanes results in the formation of C3-substituted indoline derivatives. The reaction path and formation of the indoline product with density functional theory calculations were analyzed. This study reveals that the whole catalysis can be characterized in the following stages: (I) C-H activation via concerted metalation deprotonation, (II) 2,1-vinylsilane insertion, (III) deprotonation of the NH amide proton, (IV) the oxidation of Ag+, and (V) reductive elimination. These steps are kinetically and thermodynamically feasible for experimental realization under mild conditions, and the insertion step with a barrier of 22.0 kcal/mol should not only be the critical step of regioselectivity but also the rate-determining step during the whole catalysis. Computations reveal that the Ag+ oxidation can accelerate the reductive elimination step after the formation of natural intermediate, thus highlighting the role of Ag+ as a catalytic promoter for the oxidatively induced reactivity of the Rh catalyst in C3-substituted indoline synthesis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a type of liver cancer that originates from liver cells. It is one of the most common types of liver cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Early detection and treatment can improve the HCC prognosis. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve HCC markers and risk stratification. PANoptosome is a cytoplasmic polymer protein complex that regulates a proinflammatory programmed cell death pathway called "PANoptosis". The role of PANoptosis in HCC remains unclear. In this study, the molecular changes of PANoptosis related genes (PAN-RGs) in HCC were systematically evaluated. We characterized the heterogeneity of HCC by using consensus clustering to identify two distinct subtypes. The two subtypes showed different survival rate, biological function, chemotherapy drug sensitivity and immune microenvironment. After identification of PAN-RG differential expression genes (DEGs), a prognostic model was established by Cox regression analysis using minimum absolute contraction and selection operator (LASSO), and its prognostic value was verified by Cox regression analysis, Kaplan-Meier curve and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Our own specimens were also used to further validate the prognostic significance and possible clinical value of the selected targets. Subsequently, we conducted a preliminary discussion on the reasons for the influence of the model on the prognosis through TME analysis, drug resistance analysis, TMB analysis and other studies. This study provides a new idea for individualized and precise treatment of HCC.

Malocclusions are a type of cranio-maxillofacial growth and developmental deformity that occur with high incidence in children. Therefore, a simple and rapid diagnosis of malocclusions would be of great benefit to our future generation. However, the application of deep learning algorithms to the automatic detection of malocclusions in children has not been reported. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a deep learning-based method for automatic classification of the sagittal skeletal pattern in children and to validate its performance. This would be the first step in establishing a decision support system for early orthodontic treatment. In this study, four different state-of-the-art (SOTA) models were trained and compared by using 1613 lateral cephalograms, and the best performance model, Densenet-121, was selected was further subsequent validation. Lateral cephalograms and profile photographs were used as the input for the Densenet-121 model, respectively. The models were optimized using transfer learning and data augmentation techniques, and label distribution learning was introduced during model training to address the inevitable label ambiguity between adjacent classes. Five-fold cross-validation was conducted for a comprehensive evaluation of our method. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the CNN model based on lateral cephalometric radiographs were 83.99, 92.44, and 90.33%, respectively. The accuracy of the model with profile photographs was 83.39%. The accuracy of both CNN models was improved to 91.28 and 83.98%, respectively, while the overfitting decreased after addition of label distribution learning. Previous studies have been based on adult lateral cephalograms. Therefore, our study is novel in using deep learning network architecture with lateral cephalograms and profile photographs obtained from children in order to obtain a high-precision automatic classification of the sagittal skeletal pattern in children.
